Discovering Your Authentic Voice

Since you are here reading this post, I think it’s safe to assume you’re probably a creative or some sort of writer or artist? You want to improve your craft and your reach, but you don’t know where to start. Maybe you have a favorite author or songwriter that you want to be like, and you spend hours searching the internet on ways that you can be like them. They have inspired you, and you want to chase the life they are living. You may want to try to emulate what they are doing and follow in their path. While this may seem like a great way to get started, it’s not always what is best for you and your journey. The world doesn’t need another blank. They have them and their work, and that is enough. What the world is looking for is your voice and the value you can add to it.

Finding your authentic voice is super important when you are on your creative journey. It’s what makes you unique and special. Don’t try to be someone you’re not just to make it happen. Nowadays, people are looking for genuine connections. They’re tired of all the fake stuff that is out there lurking on the internet. They want to hear your story from your own perspective. Speak in your own way and build an audience of supporters who love you for who you truly are.

You’re one-of-a-kind, and your story is truly special. When you embrace your uniqueness and discover who you are, your art will blossom. Don’t try to copy someone else’s formula. Your experiences give you a unique perspective on the world, and that’s what makes your story so captivating. Imagine a world where we were all the same. Our bodies are incredible, each part with a specific purpose. And it’s all thanks to these unique parts that we function as a whole. I’ve heard it said that the eye can’t tell the foot I don’t need you because how would the eye be able to get around. If we tell someone their story isn’t needed we are losing an important part of humanity.

I absolutely love stories and getting the wonderful opportunity to share them with others. I truly enjoy being able to see and appreciate the unique perspectives that different individuals have on various topics, and I am continually learning from these different insights. While we may not possess all the knowledge in the world, I believe that if we cultivate a strong network of people who bring a variety of experiences to the table, they can significantly assist us in navigating the areas of life where we may not feel as strong or confident.

So you may be asking what can I do to help me find my voice? This is a great question that I think we even hit on in a previous post, “The Effects of Personal Journaling”. You can start by writing down or journaling your life. It can help you understand the way you view the world. By understanding the way you view the world, you will be able to more authentically communicate feelings and emotions to your audience, and that is exactly what they are in search of.

This week my challenge to you is to be yourself. What about you is unique and special that you bring to the table? What can you offer people that no one else can? Take some time this week to ponder that and write it down in a place you can go back and reference when you are down and doubting yourself.
